The London Ale III strain is an excellent universal English ale strain.  Accentuating malt character, as a true English strain should, this yeast will proide a well rounded ale profile.

Originating from a traditional London brewery, this yeast has a wonderful malt and hop profile. It is a true top cropping strain with a fruity, very light and softly balanced palate. This strain will finish slightly sweet.

Slow but thorough
Second time I have used this yeast. First time was for a British IPA and this time I used it for the Habro Hazy IPA. I forgot how much slower the yeast is at fermenting than the American Ale yeasts I typically use. I took a full two weeks, but the batch did hit the expected final gravity and a bit more, so I am happy. The beer is conditioning now, but initial taste test have me very excited for the end result.

Be sure to keep the temperature above 65.
These guys died out a little early though I admit I was not perfect at maintaining the suggested temperature.

Great yeast for NEIPA
I’ve tried a few of the equivalent yeasts to this one and 1318 always ferments consistently, with a clean, fruity flavor. My go to yeast for NEIPA. Just make sure to let it finish!

This yeast used in a starter brought the old ale I brewed to its expected final gravity of 8.5%.

Not sure why it would not activate.
Slap pack did not activate yeast. Tried a yeast starter for it as I do with all my yeasts and still didn't activate, had to use an alternate yeast for my NEIPA. Been a MoreBeer customer for 17 years and this was a very rare occurrence.

The London III yeast is great for biotransformation with my hazy/juicy IPAs. The bags arrived in May with dates on the bag from March. I ordered two. They arrived partially inflated with melted ice packs, but I pitched them both into my 5 gallons of wort and they worked great. Dry hopped during high krausen (and two more dry hops at the end of fermentation and after fermentation) Attenuated down to an FG of 1.010 as desired. Fruity esters and lots of good hop oils in my packaged beer!

Love 1318
Use for IPA's and NEIPA's. Great yeast. I make a 1200ml starter and I get activity after about 4 hours. 24 hours after pitch it's chugging hard, and then slows a bit but keeps working steady. Definitely a favorite yeast.
