The Braumeister is the original all-in-one, electric all-grain brewing system. Designed and patented in Germany over a decade ago, it has been copied around the world. Still made in Germany today by Speidel, a 5th generation German stainless steel manufacturer, the Braumeister is the Mercedes® of brewing systems. Speidel made a decision to not try and compete on price with the rest of the all-in-one machines that are made in China. They actually went the opposite direction improving upon the Braumeister many times.  They've improved the control screen, improved the programming and functionality, and created an online myspeidel.com control center along with multiple other small refinements. They also created a host of optional equipment to further enhance your brewing. If you appreciate really well-made equipment, the Braumeister is for you. It is the best of the best.

The large LED screen allows for easy operation, recipe viewing and manipulation, as well as a memory bank to actually store recipes for future brews. The Braumeister Control Module is available now, and when purchased, will upgrade your Braumeister to be controllable over WiFi and through the Speidel site, myspeidel.com.

Advantages of the Braumeister
First, the system has a small footprint and is powered by electricity, allowing you to brew inside, in a confined space, without the inherent dangers of using an open flame. Secondly, this unit is very easy to use as you mash the grain and then boil the wort in the same vessel. We also love the automation and control. Before you brew you set the controller with the different temperatures you wish to attain (advice is given on what to set) and the built-in heating element and pump do the rest. The Braumeister is especially ideal for step-mashing, which many brewers think is the preferred way to brew lager beers. Based on the results of lagers we have brewed on this machine, MoreBeer! agrees.

Walking Through the Brew Process
On Brew Day, you are going to assemble your Braumeister with the mash tub and bottom screen. You will fill the unit with filtered water to a notch on the center post - easy. The controller reads in °C or °F, and you can set it to different temperatures you wish to reach. Advice is given in the manual. When your water is the correct temperature, a beep alerts you to add grain. Stir in your grain, lock down the top screen (so now there is a screen on the bottom and the top) and start the mash. During the mash wort is constantly recirculated through the grain bed from the bottom up, reverse of most all-in-one systems. The liquid wort flows up through the mash and then cascades down between the mash tub and the outer wall of the Braumeister. There it is collected by the pump and pushed back through the mash. When the mash is complete, another beep will alert you to remove the entire mash tub, which sets on top of the Braumeister to drain for a period of time. At this point you can choose to rinse the mash with hot water or to just add water directly the wort. Push another button and the boil starts and will run for however long you program it. When the boil stops, begin chilling your wort.

Without this, I wouldn't brew
I've had my Braumeister for over 2 years now, and I brew with a lot of partially modified malt. Simply put, without this device, I wouldn't be a home brewer. It lets me concentrate on the recipe and it takes care of hitting the right temperatures in the mash schedule. It also doubles as a sous vide circulator, albeit an expensive one. My one piece of advice is don't even think about letting anything wet (like a nylon hop bag) touch the control panel after the brew program starts. It could abort the program. Use dry fingers only.

Best for a reason
Best way to brew I've ever come across. Easy to use, efficient, compact, built to last. There's a reason why these are famous. If you have the right outlet and plug for it, it is worth every penny. Looking forward to a lifetime of happiness with mine.

Great machine!
I'm very happy with the Braumeister V2 - 20 L. I brewed my first batch 3 weeks ago. The beer turned out outstanding! I brewed the American Amber Ale. This is a wonderful brew system. I think we are going to grow old together.
My wife was not real excited about buying good brewing equipment until she had a pint.
Now she's pestering me to make sure we have enough home brew to give to her friends.
As I sat and drank a pint last night and thought about the beer. I could not tell the difference between it and any good quality commercial craft beer,

Satisfied customer,

Nice System
Been an all grain brewer for 25 years. Before I bought this system I was doing 20 gallon batches. I did cut the cord on mine, put a 220 plug on end with a 20 amp breaker. (lucky I have a friend that's an electrician.) Actually was not that hard to replace. System holds heats very accurate. With my old system I was doing a single step mash. Now I have the choice to do a multi step mash. Does seem to take a while to reach boiling point. Holds about 15 pounds of grain. So you won't be making and double Ipa's or barley wines. Unless you boost gravity with dry malt. Gave it a 4 star only because of cord and you can't change from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Which is not that big of deal. Been a machinist for 35 years, built and designed a lot of equipment. I give the craftsmanship on this item an A+. Very well made, welds are perfect. (Those German's make some good stuff.) One other thing would have been nice. If you could have removed heat coil for easier cleaning. Don't forget when cleaning to remove impeller and clean it. Very simple to do, instruction show how. This machine really simplified my brew day. Thanks

Worth it
First off, these things are not cheap. After your first batch I bet the price paid for this fine piece of equipment will no longer be of concern.

The engineering and quality of components are top notch. This thing screams quality. The controller interface is very intuitive and easy to program. Programming mash steps, hop additions and boil schedule take little time. Once programed, start the machine and enjoy the ride. Once started, the Braumeister will hold the temperature and time of each mash step with precision leading to consistent and repeatable results.

For the space/storage constrained, the Braumeister consolidates 3 bulky pieces of equipment into 1. A lot to be said here.

The only negative I can think of is the limitation on the grain bill. If brewing a "big" beer you will need to perform a double mash as a work around. Maybe one more negative, I am not a big fan of the valve. I may replace with a ball valve in the future.

If thinking about getting one of these I say do it.

Great product
I decided to splurge and get the 20l with the insulating jacket along with the copper hood. I am used to my tower of power rims system, that heats up rather quickly. using an electric heating element does have its pros and cons. To rate the Braumeister: Pros; able to be used indoors, clean, easy to use, small footprint, clean up is painless . Cons: does take a little longer to heat up compared to my rims system, had to buy a special transformer to be able to adapt to the european plug with out cutting the cord!!!! thats up to you. have to have 220v source, don't expect to be able to plug this sucker in any where. hence the added purchase of transformer. have to manually pull up the malt basket, think about your shoulders, and thats why i went with the 20l for my pilot system.
in the end, i really do like the system. if you are addicted to brewing like i am, it really is worth the price, but please plan ahead to setup this up. preparing for the 220v is essential, and i really do suggest in investing into a step up transformer that can utilize the european plug. it gives you the ability to brew anywhere. hope this helps, Cheers!
