Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone - Cali Mountain (Extract)

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone - Cali Mountain (Extract)

Please select from the following option(s) to see pricing and availability.

Our Cali Mountain Pale Ale is an attempt at one of the most iconic pale ales in the country: Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale.  This pale ale is a fairly simple recipe, cosisting of ultralight malt extract, Crystal 60L, and four hop additions.  This being said, don't be fooled.  The flavors blend together perfectly, creating a complex yet easy to drink homebrew.

The bittering hop additions are Magnum and Perle which provide a clean bitterness that balances the sweetness from the Crystal 60L malt perfectly.  The aroma hop and dry hop additions are both Cascade, providing a citrus & floral aroma as fresh as the forests in California's mountains!

Estimated OG: 1.052-1.057
SRM: 9-11
Estimated IBU's: 37-41
Estimated alcohol ABV%: 5.4-5.8%

Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar. To find our yeast recommendations, choose your preferred kit option above and then select the drop-down menu under “Yeast Options”.  For more info, click on the recommended yeast(s) below in the “You Might Also Need” section below. All included steeping grains will come milled.

Please Note: In order to better serve our customers, we are now offering our extract recipe kits with either Liquid Malt Extract (LME) or Dried Malt Extract (DME). The majority of our DME kits were converted from the LME version, which is why you may notice slight variances in the extract names and quantities on your recipe sheet. You may also find that your Specific Gravity and ABV% are slightly higher if you choose DME. Whether LME or DME, add all extracts provided according to the recipe sheet. Cali on my mind
I jazz this recipe up with 1lb of caramel malt and secondary ferm with 2 oz of HBC 342 experimental hops. Oh S**t this is good. A little bit smoother across the tongue, a little sweet on the front, great citrus taste in the back and a wonderful aroma. It does not last and a hit at my American Legion meetings.

Great kit, can't beat the price.
This is a nice kit, and produced a clean, crisp and
drinkable ale... doesn't really taste like Sierra Nevada, but that's likely some issue on my end. It is still very enjoyable! A great brew kit, especially at this price.

Bests SNPA in side by side
I had a blind side by side with a few friends and they all chose this over the SN. 'Nuff said? This is my 5th time brewing it, I stick to the recipe and try to be spot on with my hop timings and then quickly cool it down to pitching temp. I do a dry hop of 3-4 days.
Stupidly Named Pale Ale (Cali Mountain?? Really, that's the best you got?)

Hoppy goodness
Clean. Hoppy without being too hoppy. The dry hopping works magic for the aroma. It smells amazing. My batch finished at 5.7%. Carbonation is spot on! This kit turned out a great pale ale. I WILL be brewing this again. If you like SNPA give this a shot, you won't be disappointed.
Strong headed. Tastes much better than it looks.

True to the Original
I started drinking Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in the 70s when it was bottled in 12oz Bud long necks. It is one of the few beers I will purchase to this day. The Cali Mountain really closes in on the flavor and aroma of the SNPA. All my friends really like it and it is super satisfying!
