(General AA range 10-12.5%) Zythos is a new "IPA style" hop blend created to optimize and exceed the aroma characteristics of the traditional, and sometimes hard to get, IPA hops. Hopunion had a team of professional hop sniffers blending combinations of hops. The interesting thing about blending hops is like blending wine - the blend actually ends up being different than the sum of the parts. Pretty cool.

This is a perfect hop for West Coast style hoppy Pale Ales and IPA's. With that said we have seen, sniffed and tasted all kinds of traditional styles made with aggressive IPA hops. You are only limited by your creativity.

So what are the flavors? MoreBeer! went right to the source and interviewed our friend Will Harrison of Hopunion who led the team that developed the Zythos hop blend. He has this to say "I get lots of citrus and tropical fruit notes. The hop was blended to get a little of everything in one pellet. We went for citrus, tropical, pine, and spicy as the main flavors in that order. It also has some experimental varieties to make it more complex".

Experimental hops come from breeding programs and are available to Hopunion but not yet available to the public. So if you choose this blend you will be tasting into the future of IPA hops! Sign us up, our fermenters are already bubbling.

Seems like a good aromatic hop.
I just dry hopped my clone version of “Hopped & Loaded” by 105 West Brewery. It’s an excellent IPA and hopefully mine will come out the same. The 7 BBL was published at Brewers’ Friend.

Great blend for IPAs!
There are notes of tangerine, grapefruit, pine and pineapple. Love the high alpha acid content for bittering but I appreciate it more as an aroma hop.

Great Hops for IPA
This hop has great aroma and flavor, I used it exclusively on my last IPA for flavoring, aroma & dry hopping and it turned out amazing. My friends keep coming over asking for more.

Hop Heads Rejoice
This is the First time ive written a review for hops and for good reason. Ive never really had the opportunity to be so BLOWN AWAY by the quality and results of a new product like this. I have recently become a hop head and i have a group of friends that are Long time hop heads and beer snobs to boot. After brewing up my first Double IPA with these zythos hops, i was worried about the flavor and aroma. What i got was one of the MOST wonderful surprises in all my time as a brewer. The Flavor and Aroma was incredible and even my beer snob friends who can find fault with anything said they could not find a SINGLE flaw in the beer other than not enough of it. I highly recommend this hop blend to anyone that is looking to make the best IPA they can.
