Use this yeast nutrient as your "secret weapon" when your yeast starts to lag or you just want to ensure a vigorous ferment! Supplementing with yeast nutrients reduces lag time and give the yeast a boost during sluggish or stuck fermentations.

Wyeast Yeast Nutrient gives your yeast a great start during propagation and provides the nutrients needed to maintain a healthy, active ferment: a blend of vitamins, minerals, inorganic & organic nitrogen, zinc, phosphates, and other trace elements that will benefit yeast growth and complete fermentation.

To use, simply dissolve in warm water and add the solution to your kettle 10-15 minutes before the end of the boil. Use ½ tsp (2.2 grams) per 5 gallons (19 liters) of wort.

Wyeast Yeast Nutrient will remain stable for 1 year if stored in an airtight container in a cool environment.

Can I use this for cider or ginger beer? If so what amount should I use?
David j Howard on Aug 28, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hi David, I used this for the first time almost a year ago and haven't used it since. Let me tell you that you don't really need to use it, or if you do, just use a tiny bit. It's a nutrient for yeast to feed from, so it is not needed in the beginning. The yeast will feed off the sugar. Perhaps it would be of use when the yeast has consumed all the sugar and stopped bubbling. I was silly and added it to a batch of apple cider along with 2 cups sugar and yeast. After a few hours, it had popped the airlock out and spewed apple pulp all over the ceiling! So I would not recommend you use it in the fermentation period. It might be of benefit after the first racking.
As for ginger beer, I've made many batches (love it!) and have never needed yeast nutrient. My last batch was a bit flat (there musn't have been enough yeast on the ginger), so I added 1/4 tsp yeast to get it bubbling. Turned out brilliantly, lot of fizz. Hope this helps.

Great product!
This stuff is great, my fermentations seem to finish faster when I use this. The low price makes this a no brainier, my container has lasted over a year.

Exactly what I wanted
Bought it for mead and cider. Both have taken off quite fast. Also really enjoy the container this product comes in.

Big Beers
A lot of my home brews are big beers, 8-12%. I always use this when stepping up my starters on the stir plates. I have 4 beers with recipes that have not changed since 2016, two of those since 2013. My notes always show a change in FG when yeast nutrient is not used. I am an all grain brewer with a Herms setup using a pump.

It's What Yeast Craves
Absolutely a necessity. Gives your yeasty friends a big boost of vitamins and nutrients that will have them eating sugar and crapping alcohol until they drop. Also, it clears well.

Use for all brews
I use for all my brews (ales and lagers). Do I really need? IMO, but don't care. Small price to, IMO, feed yeast and get healthy fermentation.

I will continue using Wyeast Yeast Nutrient.
