WLP002 English Ale Yeast - White Labs Yeast

WLP002 English Ale Yeast - White Labs Yeast

This genuinely classic ale strain originated from one of England's largest breweries. It has a rich, malty flavor with lots of good fruity esters. It is used as the yeast-strain-of-choice in many microbreweries, and is definitely one of our favorites. Use it in any beer in which you want a distinct malt flavor to come through. The high flocculation results in naturally clear beers. Our #2 best selling yeast. To ferment this yeast properly pitch at 65-66F and let it rise to 66-68F. Ferment for 10-14 days in the primary.

Commonly referred to as having a "cottage cheese" appearance when shaken up.

Attenuation: 63-70%
Flocculation: Very High.
Optimum Fermentation Temp: 65-68.
Wyeast Equivalent: 1968 Special London

For best results we always recommend ordering an ice pack with your liquid yeast.

Good yeast
This yeast was ordered during a colder month and I didn't request an ice pack, so I was nervous when the order took longer than expected, but it showed up to my home still cold and I immediately tossed it in the fridge until a few hours before pitch. It worked very well on my black IPA. I would order again.

Great strain. Will absolutely use again in the Future.
I used this yeast to make a starter for my oatmeal stout. Took off like a champ. I was very pleased with the results.

Yeast went bad
I've used this yeast on several occasions and had great results.

I just received this batch which i purchased with two cold packs but it was warm when i received it (i live in Arkansas and it's quite warm here. This usually happens when i order my yeast in the summer though and i haven't noticed any issues. This time the yeast arrived and it's a very dark brown (think chocolate). Not sure what happened but there's no way I'm pitching it into my beer.

Possibly the Best Yeast Ever for English Styles....
IMO this the best Yeast for nearly all Bitters and English Ales. Flocs great and settles down hard. Doesn't attenuate nearly as much as something like California, so the flavor is more on the malts and not so much the hops. I probably use this strain more than any other yeast. I haven't used the Wyeast version of this strain (1968), but have heard from those who have that it is very near ID.
As usual, well packaged on the ice, so still cool when it arrived.

English ale yeasts are my go to for all styles
I use 002 and 007 for darn near every beer I make. They are quick to take off and provide consistent quality.

Great yeast
Great yeast with many applications. High flocculation leaves beer clear without any filtration. Great for IPAs too.
