Description

Maybe you have heard of John Palmer?  His best selling "How to Brew" is the default homebrewing text. John gave us this recipe early on and it has always been a special recipe. John describes his kit as: "a smooth, copper lager that strikes the perfect balance between a toasty sweet malt body and the noble overtures of the hops. This interpretation of the Vienna style has more hop flavor dancing around the edges than the current BJCP guidelines specify, but the hop profile really complements the rich malt palate for a lively complexity that you don't get from the hoppier Bohemian Pilsener or maltier Oktoberfest styles, and is richer and smoother than Dortmunder Export." This beer will not disappoint! Thanks, John, for the kit, the book, and the advice! John recommends White Labs WLP833 for a dried beer, and WLP820 for a maltier version.

Please Note: In order to better serve our customers, we are now offering our extract recipe kits with either Liquid Malt Extract (LME) or Dried Malt Extract (DME). The majority of our DME kits were converted from the LME version, which is why you may notice slight variances in the extract names and quantities on your recipe sheet. You may also find that your Specific Gravity and ABV% are slightly higher if you choose DME. Whether LME or DME, add all extracts provided according to the recipe sheet. For further details, please reference the conversion chart below.

Fast and easy. Amazing outcome.
Randomly bought this kit as a AG brewer. I was looking some beer fast and easy. Turned out great and was one of my most complemented beers I've brewed.

John Palmer's Vienna Lager - Extract Beer Kit
I made California Common from LHBS extract ingredients, Marzen/Oktoberfest from Morebeer extract kit, and John Palmer's Vienna Lager from Morebeer extract kit, in that order, back to back. All were excellent.

The Vienna Lager turned out sort of between the California Common and the Marzen/Oktoberfest. My plan was to pick the best for my house amber lager. Guess what. These are so good, all three will remain in my brew schedule.

I find Morebeer kits are true to style, fresh, convenient, and a great value. What's not to like?

This lager is excellent, and unique among several that I brew. The extract kit yields great tasting beer. Two packs Saflager S-23 work great. It's mid December, my cellar is down to 45-50F for the next two months, so time to do another batch of this wonderful lager.

Well, I made this kit during January, 2015. Four months later it is fantastic beer. I added a scant 2 oz maltodextrine to enhance mouthfeel and fermented with 2 pks Saflager S-23 at 55F for 28 days in primary. I've made other recipes of this beer, including Jamil's, but they were not quite as good as this one.
