Description

This item is currently out of stock but is available for pre-order. It is expected to be back in stock and ready to ship in early December.

The perfect pump for use after fermentation.

Why this is a Great Pump:

  • Self-Priming
  • Heat Tolerant materials to 212°F when used with Silicone tubing
  • Speed Control!

Gentle Diaphragm Design

Self Priming: This pump is capable of pumping gasses, meaning that pumping does not require priming! This makes transfers between carboys or kegs incredibly easy. Simply put both inlet and outlet hoses in a bucket of sanitizer and run the pump for a minute. You're then good to transfer your beer with your sanitized pump!

PreFilter This pump comes with a built in prefilter. This is something which is almost necessary on diaphragm pumps, as the diaphragm itself is very delicate, and can be ruined by small solids. The prefilter included on this pump will work to keep solids out of the pump, extending the working life of the unit.

Heat Tolerant: All materials used in the construction of the pump tolerate temperatures up to 212°F when used with heat tolerant tubing such as silicone.  Because the pump comes with vinyl tubing you would need to replace that tubing with silicone.

Speed Control: Perhaps the most unique feature is a dial control to adjust flow from 0 to 3 gallons per minute. Use it to send your wort from the kettle to the fermenter, or even after fermentation to send beer through a plate filter (such as our FIL45).

Gentle on your Beer: A diaphragm pump works by moving beer through one pulsating diaphragm into the next. It is a design that is very gentle on the liquid being pumped.

When this pump was first introduced to us, we loved the idea, but had concerns that the speed control would compromise the longevity of the motor. We build much larger pumps (our ChunkyPumps for commercial wineries) and normally you need a $700 frequency drive to control motor speed. However, we kept in touch with the manufacturer and after three years in which he has not had any issues, and after our own testing, we are now sold this pumps performs as promised. The manufacturer does offer a 1 year warranty as well.

  • This pump comes with 1/2" barbed ports for easy connectivity.
  • Comes with 6' tubing on both sides.
  • 110 Volts, 0.5 Amp, 60 Hz.
Prebook Item: Please note this item is not currently in stock, but is available for Pre-Order. We do require payment in full in order to reserve stock.

It says in the product description that the pump can handle liquid temps up to 212F with silcone tubing, but the instruction manual says that liquid temps shouldn't exceed 130F. Can this pump handle temps up to 212 with proper hosing?
Bill Rittenour on Feb 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, as long as you replace the tubing that comes with the pump with tubing that can handle over 212 degrees.
What is the lift power of this pump (How many feet?). I plan to place the pump on the floor and the input will suck the wine from the barrel on the floor and the output will go to my stainless still tank at 6 to 7 feet high.
Milton Tolikas on Oct 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Milton - under ideal conditions, the max lift is approximately 15 ft. However, many factors come into play -- such as the type of liquid being moved, the temperature of the liquid, and the amount of solids in the liquid -- which determine the max lift of the pump on a case by case basis. This is why we do not list a max lift in the description. You should have no trouble in the set up you describe, although we would recommend doing a test run with water to see how the pump performs with your system.
I used my pump for the first time to move ten gallons of beer to the kegs and it foamed up bad I’m afraid that this batch will be oxidized. Is there a fix for the foaming problem?
Russell Chance on Jul 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hello Russel - Sorry for your loss. It seems best to have the pump ABOVE volumes of liquid being moved. Allowing the diaphragm to fully prime the pump and head without air-bubbles trapped during transfer.
What is the head lift on this pump?
Benjamin Johnson on Feb 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Benjamin - Being that this pump is 0-3 GPM max flow rate, the head lift should be somewhere around 6' max lift.

Good value pump
Got this pump primarily because a small winery we know uses it as their main pump and seems to do a fine job for them. Plenty of spare parts available. Hopefully it’s with me a long time. Used a few times already without complaints.

Does a great job, and easy on the wine
Bought this so I no longer have to find a partner to help me lift big barrels for racking wines. I've racked about 800 litres of wine since I got it in November and it works very well. I purchased a 25-foot hose for the output to rack wines from the garage to the basement after cold stabilization and it handled it with no problem. I love that I can adjust the volume. At the lower end of the speed control, I can rack the wine at the same or even slower speed than if I were doing it the old way (lifting barrels + siphon hose to rack wine to a lower container). So far, very pleased.
