MoreBeer!'s Patent Pending sparge arm design is the perfect addition to almost any all grain setup! This sparge arm assembly is made completely of stainless steel and silicone, and has two adjustment points. One of these will help to hold the sparge arm against your kettle, while the other allows you to move the sparge arm up or down inside the kettle to accommodate different amounts of grain. These adjustment knobs are very easy to hand tighten and loosen, meaning no tools are necessary. Excellent for sparging as well as recirculating your mash in a RIMS or HERMS system!

To use, simply install on your kettle wall, tighten down the red stopper to hold the sparge arm in place, adjust the height of the bottom disc to be right above your grain bed but below the mash tun's water level, and adjust the flow level using the included ball valve. This unit will not include a barb or quick disconnect on the inlet of the ball valve, as every brewery is different. Please choose an inlet attachment from the sparge arms recommended items. Note - This sparge arm will not fit on most coolers. Make sure to check out the video in the video tab above.

Only okay
Brewed with the unit twice now and although I like the idea of it, it is overpriced for the functionality. There are considerably more and cheaper options to get the same job done.
Purchased for my horizontal keggle system because I didn't want to drill more holes in my tun.
My sparge arm has a slightly warped plate that doesn't allow for level dispersement of water. This probably would be less noticeable if it mounted to a keggle better. Ihave not experienced channeling issues because of it but given the price I'd expect a higher quality.

Works great with malted rice and malted millet
Works great for recirculating gluten free grains. The inside of the tube has no restrictions so it is easy for the smaller milled gf grains to pass through without getting stuck.

Works well
I replaced two separate copper items with the sparge arm: a sparge loop and a copper wort return apparatus, both of which I constructed many years ago. To fit my Sanke keg, I had to remove a notch from the top chime of the keg. And notch the top of the keg to allow the sparge arm to drop all the down and to secure tight against the side of the keg. The return is not centered in the keg but is only off an inch or so. It performed well in the one batch I've done with it so far. Only change I would recommend would be a larger knurled nut so you could really crank it tight against the keg to keep the entire arm from shifting. The notch I made to hold it, however, keeps it secure.

Sparge arm construction appears to be very durable and should last a long time. Works well with no issues. As mentioned in a previous review one design improvement would be to make it adjustable in the horizontal access so that it is more centered in a 10 gal kettle, but this is a minor issue,

Perfect if your technique matches description
The technique you have to apply to this is the one they give in the description: You should have about 2" of sparge water sitting on top of the grain bed, and position the "shower head" level with or submerged in the layer of clear sparge water. After a few minutes that clear water level forms on top of the grain bed, and the grain bed will hold it there and let it seep through slowly. The sparge arm will keep adding water to maintain that level, and it covers the whole grain bed only because the top of the grain bed is flooded. I have figured this out with lots of trials and by tracking efficiency. The ultimate sparge arm does not do well what most people imagine for fly sparging: sprinkle water over the top of the whole grain bed at the same rate it seeps through. The flow rate is very controllable, but it will not spread water out over the entire top surface of a grain bed (unless you blast it) *I always have a 10 gallon batch with a large grain bed. Maybe with a smaller grain bed it won't hold a layer of sparge water on top as well?--I don't know. I love the sparge arm because of its consistency: the rate is highly adjustable down to a crazy slow trickle, because it won't move at all unless I make it move, because it won't clog, and because it deposits water so softly that you can use this method successfully, without washing large tunnels into the grain bed. Also for cleanup, I rinse the kettle and the sparge arm and then recirculate PBW water through the setup at high flow with the ultimate sparge arm (USA); this way it rinses does the sides of the kettle and helps a little more with clean up.
I don't regret the purchase, but if you learn to do this sparging technique effectively, however, you'll realize there are cheaper ways (1/3 the cost or less) to do the same--something I had wondered about and can now say is probably true.

Solid Sparge Arm!
I recently picked up one of these as a birthday present to myself. I was looking for ways to improve my sparging process and hopefully gain some efficiency in the process. I have a Blichmann AutoSparge for controlling flow during fly sparging, but it only has a length of silicone tubing for directing the flow onto the top of the mash. It always seemed like this created too much circulation on top of the grain bed and I was worried it could create channeling along the sides of the kettle and as a result hurt my numbers. I find that that running the Ultimate Sparge Arm instead of a simple length of silicone tubing definitely solves that issue.

PROS: - Helps reduce turbulent flow
- Improves efficiency
- Sturdy construction
- Looks super cool

CONS: - Pricey
- Set for a standard diameter pot (may not be perfectly centered in your kettle)
- Quite tall
- No option to purchase without the ball valve

Flow rate needs to be very high to do more than trickle over its sides
I have a flow meter on my MLT and BK so I can sparge at around 1 gallon / 5 minutes (.2/min). It makes it incredibly simple to match flow rates. So, watching my MLT flow meter I kept opening the valve to see where it needed to be in order to get water over the entire bed and not just dribbling off the (completely uneven and uncorrectable) side of the disc. I had it at nearly a gallon of flow per minute before it would spray. At that rate, your sparge will be over in what... ten minutes? Less. Your BK inflow would need to be set to match, and your efficiency is going to suffer greatly. If you set it low and let it dribble I'm sure it works well, but I cannot see this thing working any better than any other device where you'd be doing the same thing. I got this like many others I'm sure because it appears to give a nice, wide, even spray. I'm pretty disappointed that it requires so much water flow to do so. Perhaps it's best suited for a much larger system than my 20 gallon kettles where I only need 1g/5min.
