Description

Looking to add a thermowell to your Speidel plastic fermenter? This is the perfect way to do it. This thermowell replaces the airlock on top of your fermenter and uses the standard Speidel locking nut and gasket. The rubber grommet will fit standard 3/8 in. airlocks and the thermowell will accept most temperature probes.

The probe is 12" and will fit most 1/4" digital temp probles.

I want to see the REAL temp of my wort as it ferments rather than measuring ambient taped on the side of my fermenter

seems like a clean way to add temp probe, I like the integration with the speidel top, hopefully my temp probe fits

How long is the thermowell? Will it reach the middle of the 60L Speidel? Will it fit the temp probe from a STC 100 temp controller?
James Bowen on Jan 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The thermowell is 11.5 inches long, starting from the bottom side of the metal disc to the point where the unit begins to pinch. It will reach the middle of both 60L Speidel Plastic Fermenters (FE720 & FE730). We're unaware of the STC-100's probe dimensions, but the inside diameter of the thermowell is 0.25 inches.
Where can you purchase a second lock nut since you need two if you’re going to use this thermowell?
Brent Violette on May 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hello Brent,
We currently do not carry spare locknuts for the Speidel FE746. We do offer a spare solid locknut, or one can be used from FE785.

I have a 15 gallon round Speidel fermenter and this seems like it will only work with the rectangle models?
Matthew Brown on Jan 21, 2018

Loving it
Pay attention to the prior review and order an extra spigot to get the correct seal. Worked awesome with my Johnson controller. Don't guess on temp with a sticker, get down in it!

First buyer note
If you are purchasing this you will need to purchase another spigot. The orange cap on the spigot you will need to screw down on the top of the fermenter as well as the seal from the spigot. They do not have just the cap & seal so just note that. So order the extra Chrome one and use the original plastic one for the Thermowell.

To remove the spigot from the cap - use a screw driver and push from the opening on the orange spigot up. The orange pcs should pop out and you can remove the extra clear pcs from the cap
