A Spunding Valve is used to adjust and release pressure on a pressure capable fermenter, such as a Unitank.  It can  also be used to release pressure from a keg while filling or filtering. The relief valve can be adjusted to release pressure from 0-15 psi.

Caution: This Spunding Valve should never be used as the primary safety pressure relief device.  Every vessel that is under pressure should have a primary safety relief valve set in accordance with the pressure rating of the vessel. This Spunding valve should only act as a seondary relief that also allows you to adjust the pressure within the safety limits of the vessel or tank.

How to Adjust: The pressure relief valve is adjusted by unscrewing the very end which reduces pressure on the spring. If tight, and not adjustable by hand, it needs to be loosened with pliers. Wrap a towel around the end piece of the pressure relief valve (about  the last 1/4 in) and loosen with pliers. Then finger tighten or loosen to your desired pressure.

Gauge reads 0 - 15 psi

works fine
required tightening at all joint, which was really no trouble as I would check them as a rule anyway.

Sounding valve
Item worked great. I got much more aroma dry hopping under pressure and beer was carbonated in keg much sooner.

Must have, solid price, not ready out-of-the-box
I bought this in order to get into natural carbonation and pressure fermentation, and I just about love the thing. Obviously, it's easy to use (set a regular to target pressure and adjust the valve til it just barely vents), and it seems relatively sensitive, which is great.

The only caveat: mine came with a fitting that had no plumber's tape, which I applied, and the fittings were loose enough that I hemorrhaged CO2 until I soap-tested the thing and tightened it. Also, I looked into making one myself, and the price is very similar, so it's worth mentioning that this thing is a solid deal.

In summary: totally get this if you need it (you do or you don't), but be prepared to tighten it up - when in doubt, check each connection with soapy water while under moderate pressure

Leaked and not sure I liked the guage.
It leaked in several places. I disassembled and re-wrapped with plumbers tape and reassembled. Since I was using this post fermentation to allow my cask conditioning yeast to reach a certain level of carbonation, I changed the guage as well. All in all I’m very pleased and excited about another area of homebrewing that I am exploring

Spunding Valve
It leaks at about 8PSI and after calling about the problem nobody has called me back like they said they would, I've bought 2 others from other companies and they did not work either.

Does what it's supposed to do
I read the above reviews and acted on faith in MoreBeer and bought it any way. Turns out it works very well and does what it is supposed to do. It can be a bit tricky to get the setting right, but once you do, it's fine.
