Description

If you want to jump into all grain brewing right from your first batch, or as an upgrade from malt extract brewing, the Robobrew is a complete turn key solution. The Robobrew is an all-in-one electric brewery that has built in elements for heating and boiling, a built in pump for recirculation, an onboard water resistant control panel for setting and monitoring temperatures, a removable grain basket, and a built in spigot for transferring. It is extremely portable and uses 110V power so it can be used nearly anywhere.

The built in magnetic drive pump easily recirculates the wort during the mash. We recommend getting some silicone tubing to go with the recirculation arm. This allows you more control over the recirculation and you can then use the same tubing to transfer your wort to your fermenter.

Dual heating elements run off of a single 110 volt plug and have individual switches allowing for more control over the heating process. One element is 1000 watts and the other is 500 for a combined 1500 watts! Use both when you need to ramp up the temperature quickly either at the start to get to your mash temp or to go from your mash temp to boiling. Use only one of the elements when you want to hold a temperature.

The digital control panel makes it easy to see the current temperature and set the temperature you want. The digital controller is also water resistant so don't worry about spills or some water dripping down the side. This controller is built for brewing!

Automatic step mashing! One of the coolest features of the Robobrew is the ability to program the unit with up to 6 individual temperatures and durations so you can step mash precisely how you desire. Simply press the "S1-S6" button to select the stage you want to adjust, and use the temp, time and +/- buttons to program the stage. If you have less than 6 stages in your mash schedule, program the stages you want to skip with 00:00 as the time and the controller will automatically move on to the next step. When all the stages are complete, the Robobrew will sound an alarm and hold the last set temperature.

The programmable stages can also be used to set a delayed start of up to 23 hours in advance so that you can have your water hot and ready to go when you get home from work or wake up in the morning. In order to do this, fill the unit with strike water and program the controller with two steps. Step 1 should be programmed at a temperature lower than the unheated strike water (so the elements will remain off), and the duration should be programmed for however long you want the delay. Then program Step 2 with your desired strike water temperature and a duration of 1-2 hours, giving the Robobrew ample time to heat up and giving you a margin of error in case you hit the snooze button the morning of brew day.

The brewery also includes a stainless steel malt pipe with false bottom allowing you to easily shift from mash tun to boil kettle during your brew day. The malt pipe includes a handle to lift it from the RoboBrew and tabs at the base so you can set the malt pipe over the RoboBrew to let the wort drain out. It also has feet at its base to raise the malt pipe slightly off the base and help prevent clogging.

The included Robobrew stainless steel wort chiller is shipped with bare ends so you can set it up for your situation. We list below the most common tubing and fittings to connect to a hose, hose bib, or faucet.

What MoreBeer! loves about this product: Homebrewing is trending in the direction of all-in-one, all-grain brewing systems and the Robobrew is the ultimate value. The cost is half of the next comparable system and nearly the same as buying converted coolers and a kettle. We've brewed on all the systems and we can truly say the Robobrew is the easiest to use. We feel confident that a lot of first time brewers could buy this and use it with ease. At the same time quite a few of our experienced, all-grain brewing staff are buying it to brew at home. The unit is extremely compact because the pump is built-in to the bottom of the unit. You can move it around with ease which makes it perfect for guys and gals that have space constraints. Someone on the team also mentioned how they like that you can drain it via gravity without having to use the pump. We would choose the Robobrew model with the pump because the pump portion is really easy to use, increases efficiency, and eliminates temperature differences in the mash. All in all a great buy and highly recommended. Please note you will need a few extra pieces of hardware to connect the wort chiller and at least 2' of silicone tubing for the sparge.

Note: The manual references an element for a different market.  This unit comes with two heating elements for a total of 1,500 watts.

How does it keep the trub out of the drain?
Kenneth A on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There's a removeable screen/false bottom that you put in first before the grain basket that keeps everything out of the drain as well as the recirculation pump. Very easy to clean at the end of brewing as well.

What is the height of the kettle when measured from the top of the false bottom to the rim?
ANDREW EVANS on Apr 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: From inside the kettle the distance from the false bottom to the rim is 16 inches.
My Robobrew only gets as high as 212 degrees, anyone else have that issue?
Chris Padilla on Apr 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This is not uncommon, in fact it is the norm. Water boils at 212 and will never get any hotter than that. Once it hits 212 it turns to steam and boils off. The water that is left behind has yet to reach 212. The only way to increase the temp would be to pressurize the unit to retain the steam, not a good idea. If you want your unit to boil harder, you need to insulate it to retain more of the heat that escapes through the sides of the kettle. You can do this by purchasing the insulating jacket that is designed for the purpose, or as I did, go to Lowes/Home Depot and buy a small package of thin foam insulation and wrapping the unit with several layers. I used 4. The retained heat will convert more of your wort to steam and it will boil faster. The temp may even go higher than 212 a bit as the wort will contain a bit more steam as it boils off.
Does this need to be vented for steam if used in the basement?
Steve Seithel on Feb 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Probably a good idea to vent if indoors. No danger like propane but it wii boil off almost a gallon of water vapor per hour. This will cause a large increase in humidity and could cause mold issues if not vented.
Where are these made/manufactured?
Ryan A. Brewer on Aug 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I think they come out of Australia.
Anyone knows the box size from Robobrew v3?

BEST ANSWER: Hi Aimbere - By "box size" would you be referring to the controller module?
Can you whirlpool with the included pump?
Jay Penneau on Jun 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Probably. You would have to hold the silicone tub by hand to keep it pointed the right direction. Or rig a clamp of some sort.
Does this come with the silicone tubing for the recirculation arm or does it need to be purchased as an add on? Online reviews in user groups says its included, but here it says it needs to be purchased as an add on. Thanks
brian terwilliger on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This does not include the tubing.

You will Need:
2' of H985 1/2" ID Silicone tubing for sparging and draining.
To connect included Chiller: (20') of D1710 1/2" ID beverage tubing (or whatever length required, (3) H950 hose clamps and (1) brass hose by thread adaptor (H508).

Great Brewing System
I bought this when I transitioned over to all grain brewing. This system is great.
Pros:
Can do step mashing without much effort

programmable so you are ready to brew when you get home from work or wake up.

Circulating pump great for keeping an even temp and transferring the beer to the carboy

Price you basically get a grain father minus the counter flow chiller and the fancy wifi controller

Chiller: Most people don't like this chiller while it is not the best it does do the job and for the price you really can't complain. I run ice water through the chiller, the first 5 gallons of the hottest water I save for cleaning later. After that I continuously recirculate ice water and am able to cool in 30-40 min.

Cons:
The controller location is awkward and forces you to bend down constantly to see the temp or work on a counter making it difficult to pull out the malt pipe.

Heat up time, I got the 110V version because I couldn't get 220V in my brew room without a lot of work. I new this would be a problem going in so I bought the neoprene sleeve to help

Game Changer
I purchased this robobrew so I could do all-grain with less equipment, and to experiment more with different recipes. It's a huge game changer from my gravity system because I can set it to warm the mash water before I get off work and then start brewing ASAP. The first beer I made in the RoboBrew was a Scotch Ale with a 17 lbs grain bill. I had an efficiency of 90% using this system (which I think is great).
I'm already thinking about buying another on to double my experimentation rate.

great product for price
I have waited to review this, brewed about 7 batches with it so far. I did not have the insulated jacket or sight glass when i bought it. Both of those I have gotten and highly recommend with this. The insulated jacket makes a world of difference. i have made and IPA, A Black IPA and a Stout, with those grain bills i have only had two issues with the pump plugging up. It was a easy fix with shutting off the pump, attaching tubing to the spout and blowing into the pump. the other brews had less complicated bills. The black IPA called for adding hops to the mash and i think that was the problem there. otherwise just be careful after you lift the grain basket to drain, mine wasnt properly hooked in and fell back in. I think the manufactures should add a sight tube to the the next version, or offer a bundle with that included.

Robobrew great way to move to all grain. Great price.
Had my first All Grain experience with the Robobrew! I got this because i wanted to be able to brew indoors and not have to use propane. The electric heater takes some time to heat up, but you can set it on a timer to heat up whenever you want to start brewing. (Set up the night before to be hot when you wake up). First batch had a stuck sparge, but i got around it. I had to constantly stir my mash to get it to drain. This then caused grain to get through the false bottom, causing a clogged pump. I got around these roadblocks and my beer came out great!! I later had to unclog and clean my pump. My second experience brewing on it was 2 weeks later and it was a much smoother experience. This machine is great but seems to be overshadowed by the more than the double the price grainfather. For the price i highly recommend this machine. My only complaint is that its hard to find videos, or directions on how to use this machine, which is why my first brew on it was a pain in the @$$. At the end of the day I made really good beer on it, and my second brew experience on it was a breeze.

Hands on Review after first use of Robobrew
Here is a hands on review after my initial use 5 days ago.

I did an IPA with 15 lbs of grain.

Heated up 6 gallons of strike water, took about 1 hr to get to strike temp.

After adding the grain, which was a pretty tight fit, I stirred it up and per advice earlier posted, set the temp 2 degrees over what I actually wanted.

Heat was very well maintained, even in a cold garage.

Issue I had was with the sparging. 1st- I had no idea how much sparge water to use. I used Beer Smith which suggested I use 4 gallons of sparge water. So using the separately purchased electric sparge water heater, I did the sparge as recommended. I expected to end up with about 7.5 gallons of water at 1.053 pre-boil gravity. Did a 90 min mash just to be safe.

After 90 minutes, I ended up with 8.75 gallons at 1.040. I added 1/2 lb of DME to try and get the gravity up. Used a 90 minute boil, and at the end , ended up with 7.5 gallons at 1.060. After adding my whirlpool hops and not moving the trub, I ended up with 6.25 gallons at 1.060. The boil took about 1:20 as well.

In future uses, I would say use a lot less sparge water.

PROS- Super easy to use. Pump was great. Easy cleanup.
CONS- time to boil was way too long, no real instructions in terms of sparge water. I wanted 5 gallons at 1.075 OG, ended up with 6.25 gallons at 1.060 despite following Beer Smith exactly.

Ultimately until I taste this, my judgement cannot be complete. It is a nice change and the propane free brew session was nice.

have brewed 4 Beers with great sucess
I bought this as a backup to a Brewie that breaks every two brews. I have done 4 brew days with it and it works flawlessly, although much more work than the Brewie. Been a great lower cost backup brewing machine. Would highly recommend. Only complaint is that the heating element takes a really long time to increase the temp.
