Description

A six gallon food grade bucket for fermentation or bottling with a built in spigot and external volume markings up to five gallons.  Outlet barb accepts 3/8" ID vinyl tubing.  To use as a fermenter you will need to pick up the optional lid, stopper, and an airlock.  Includes our new Sediment Block Spigot, which will help minimize trub uptake as you rack after fermentation.  If using this as a bottling bucket, simply rotate the spigot to maximize product output.  Spigot includes gasket and sediment blocking lock nut and can easily be removed for cleaning and sanitizing.

If you use the bucket for fermentation be sure to use care when cleaning. Do not use any abrasive pads that would scratch. Once you get a scratch in a plastic bucket it is very hard to sanitize.  This is also why we don't recommend storing equipment in a bucket between uses as a fermenter. A hot PBW soak is often a perfect way to clean a bucket, followed by a Star San soak for killing bacteria.

17.5" H x 12" Ø

Please note:

  • Buckets are translucent and do not come with lids.
  • Buckets are not designed to hold pressure.
  • Lids are not gasketed and so do not always form a perfect, airtight seal. Not intended for long-term storage.
  • Food-Grade to 180° F

Priming the bucket just seems like a smarter idea than priming all the individual bottles, and the spigot should make bottling easy

How long should I use a bottling bucket? I could just replace my spicot that broke . But not sure how old my bottling bucket is and might should just replace bucket too.
jeremy brown on May 7, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We recommend replacing a bottling bucket about once a year or after maybe 25 batches. If there are any visible gashes or scratches on the inside you will want to replace it immediately. Otherwise you can give it a good sniff and if it smells fine it's probably fine for at least another batch or two.
What are the dimensions of this fermenter?
Jeff on Apr 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Heighth - 17 3/8" Diameter - 12 1/2" at top 12 7/8" at widest part of the valve that i have on (my valve is not original to bucket but i believe is fairly similar..original one likely a bit less. Cheers
What size tubing should be used for transfer? 3/8" is too small.
John Baker on Feb 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I used the 3/8 stick theend of it and hot water for a few seconds it will soften it up and you can push it on it will be real tight but as it cools it was make a leak-proof seal

Good for making wine
These are great buckets for my wine making, I didn’t notice they don’t come with lids but I found them for acouple dollars each at Lowe’s or would be 5 stars.

Bucket
I already have 2 of these buckets and I find them to be great for collecting my fresh cider to be bottled off or transferred for pasteurization. The spigot rotation feature is very handy for transporting the full buckets.

Durable and consistent.
I've been using two of these buckets for a couple of years. No leached flavors, cracks, or discoloring so far. Wonderful for the utility and price.

Trouble with seal
Bought the lid linked in description and have done 3 brews so far. Each one does not have airlock activity d/t poor seal with the lid. Otherwise it works well, spigot is nice as it has a have moon shape that allows for better control when avoiding the yeast/trub

Response from MoreFlavor
Hi Hayden, thank you for leaving a review! As noted in the product description, the lids won't create a perfect seal because they aren't gasketed making this bucket ideal for primary fermentation as opposed to long term storage. Glad that the sediment blocker on the bucket has helped!

No lids or locks with bucket with spigot
I didn’t realize there were no lids or fermentation locks with these buckets of I wouldn’t have purchased. Impossible to brew beer without lid and lock. Ever other tank I’ve purchased has been complete

Full Of Scratches Inside
From the product description: "Once you get a scratch in a plastic bucket it is very hard to sanitize."

Mine was delivered with several scratches visible on the inside. It came as part of the Premium Home Brewing Kit with the kit parts and tools packaged inside the bucket. Evidently, the tools/parts bounced around during transit, gouging the inside of my new bucket.

Doesn't leak
Spigot doesn't leak, neither does bucket. So it seems good. Lid is gravity only, no sealing airtight. But you need a bottling bucket and it's cheap.
