Oatmeal Stout - All Grain Beer Brewing Kit (5 Gallons)
Please select from the following option(s) to see pricing and availability.

Our oatmeal stout recipe could be considered to be more along the lines of a Sweet Stout. This version has lots of malt for a higher starting gravity and a low attenuating English yeast strain that leaves some of that malt behind. The result is a rich Stout with creaminess contributed from the Oatmeal.

I like the oatmeal stouts. I bought one from another company and there was NO free shipping. So I’m going with you all for now on.

First Stout
I used this kit and added one lb of Lactose during the last ten minutes of boil stage as well as a package of cocoa nibs during the kegging process. Turned out way better than I expected. It was like an iced coffee milk shake beer. Great silky mouth feel with hints of chocolate. This will be in the rotation.

Smooth & Hoppy
Sitting here at the PC enjoying a glass of and reviewing this stout simultaneously. Who said guys cannot multitask?

Nice smooth flavour and creamy head from the oats with a good hop backbone. Very pleased with this one.

I'm at least 0.5% ABV high having finally got my sparge dialed in but the other ingredients support the higher alcohol just fine.

Recommended. I might just buy another kit today myself.

Easy Great Stout
This was my first oatmeal stout. Based on other reviews, I added an extra pound of flaked oats for extra mouth feel. I used Imperial A10 Darkness yeast, and with no starter this started fermenting within a few hours. This is a great oatmeal stout that has received good reviews from everyone who has tried it.

A very enjoyable, well balanced stout. Lots of complex flavor from all the many dark grains.

Excellent recipe!
I was very proud of myself with this recipe. I felt I nailed the style. With just the pound of oats I felt the body and mouth feel was perfect. I racked it over to a secondary to clear it up a bit. I carbonated naturally with corn sugar for 2 weeks and was amazed with the results. I've had many homebrew friends tell me that it was awesome and want me to make it again. Cheers to Morebeer!

Excellent Beer
This is my second batch of Oatmeal Stout. It has a very good after taste. The beer gets much better as it ages. I would recommend to let it set for a couple of months.

Probably My Favorite Brew
I go back and forth between this and MoreBeer's Pliny for my favorite kit. I lean slightly towards this one because it is my wife's favorite, and probably a big reason I am still allowed to brew on a weekly basis. Per the suggestion of other reviewers, I doubled the Oats. At first it was way too sweet, but after about a month in the kegerator, it was perfect - silky smooth and well-balanced. We just tapped out of our last batch, so I'll be back at MoorBeer this weekend to get some more...

This beer really benefits from aging.
I agree with some others, mine was a little short of mouth feel early on. As it gets more time sitting, the flavors come out more and the oatmeal feel increases. Some folks might still want more, I'm not sure how far I'd go. I would not double the oats without some 6 row, jmho. I will order this again, soon. This is one of my favorite beers I've made (20+). I made this as a BIAB recipe, I'll sparge in a mash tun next time and get a better efficiency. Even still I had an OG of 64.
