Bryan R on Apr 3, 2020
This is consistently reviewed as being the best malt mill available to the homebrew market. I bought it now because with COVID19 closing my brewing supply store, I have no other way to mill my grains besides to just order it crushed which will be higher cost overall. I've been interested in milling my own grain for awhile for the feedback I've gotten in terms of efficiency improvements but the COVID19 outbreak forced my hand early.

Does anyone have directions on setting the roller gaps?
Wayne Halozan on Jan 5, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Ok, before you assemble the hopper on the mill, and with the side plate not yet installed, slip a feeler gauge or a standard credit card (.030") between the ONLY adjustable rollers( the two bottom rollers), loosen the screws and and roll the knurled nuts both in the same direction, closer or looser, and when you are happy with the gap, simply tighten the nuts, assemble the side plates, and attach the hopper...that's it! Enjoy! Best mill I have ever had, wish I had popped for the extra dough for this one in the beginning!...
Can anyone confirm if this model has ball bearings or if it has bronze bushings?
Joel Donmeyer on Dec 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Bearings. Definitely a noticeable difference from my previous mill which used bushings.
What are the vertical dimensions with the hopper attached?
Aaron Nicodemi on Mar 29, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Mounted to a 1/2 inch base, vertical height is 13 1/2” with the standard hopper and 23” with the extended hopper.
What size drill is needed?
Lenny N on Jan 14, 2020
BEST ANSWER: 1/2 " chuck - variable or low speed is recommended. Anchor down this mill very well when motorizing - the 1/2" drill has a lot of torque and could rotate the whole mill (rather than the rollers). Before motorizing, hand crank it empty to make sure the rollers are aligned then add a few oz. of grain to check it again. Then use the drill.
I currently have the motorized MaltMuncher 2-roller model, powered by a motor (item #MILL705). If I ever want to swap out the 2-roller mill for this 3-roller version, is it a direct replacement? Specifically, is the axle/shaft of the 3-roller version at the same height and extends the same length away from the body as the 2-roller?
Daniel Cook on Oct 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Daniel - I would guess the driver roller is the same height, but wouldn't be offset like the two roller.

Great Mill
It’s a solid and high-quality grain mill. It is a little tricky to adjust, but I got it to produce a nice grist and produced a good mash which was not stuck & efficient. The only complaint I have is it doesn’t come with any assembly instructions, which makes it a pain to start putting it together. I did find a couple YouTube videos which helped, but you would think at least they could include some instructions. I’ll still give it five stars despite this oversight due to how happy I was with how well it worked.

Avoid
Originally purchased in November 2018 to replace a 2 roller mill I used since the late 1990s. I've tried every gap setting and the mill still jams. When the mill jams it either completely stops moving the roller or only 1 roller moves (in other words I now have a 1 roller mill).

My eHERMS setup uses a fairly wide gap of 0.045. I spent a lot of time setting up the mill and properly gapping it. Didn't matter. It jammed.

When I use a tool, I want and expect a dependable tool. This mill is neither.

If I could return this, IMO, piece of junk, I would.

Avoid this mill and spend money on a more reliable mill.

Also, if possible to give 0 stars I would, but I was forced to give at least 1 star.

MoreBeer is welcome to contact me about my experiences with the mill. Not MoreBeer's fault, but I'm very, very disappointed with this mill.

Good Mill, No Instructions Difficult to Adjust
You will need to find some help online for assembly, adjustment is not possible once the mill is put together unless you bend your feeler gauges and flip the mill upside down.

Heavy duty and sturdy
Very impressed with the build quality of this mill. I did not order it with the base but will be installing it permanently in a milling cabinet with a larger hopper feeding into the included 12lb. hopper.

Consider buying a mill with motor already attached, good luck adjusting properly.
Pretty disappointed that no instructions were supplied. Also ordered an electric motor for this specific model, and it will require additional work just to match the motor and mill together. Also very difficult to adjust properly.

Works nice, but the add-on bamboo base broke. And the shank doesn’t fit a hex head or square head. It really needs a 1/2 chuck if you want to use a drill. But I have been drilling by hand and it’s really not that bad.

Thrilled with my new mill!
I purchased this mill to replace a worn out 2-roller BC mill that has served me well for almost ten years. I was immediately impressed with the size and weight of this unit compared to my previous mill, it is solid and appears to be well-built. I wanted more capacity, so I built a larger hopper using a 5-gallon water jug. The first time I used this mill I was blown away with how fast it gobbled up the grain. With the gap set at about 0.050, it chewed through 15 pounds of grain in only 50 seconds! The attached video shows how 15 pounds being milled in real time. Overall very happy with this purchase, highly recommended!

Very heavy and sturdy mill
Bought this to replace a two roller Barley Crusher that had worn out. I really like that this mill uses roller bearings instead of bronze bushings. It does require more torque to turn than my old mill so you will want to use a drill and not the hand crank. Assembly took a little while but was not difficult. The hardest part was removing the blue plastic on the hopper panels. I mounted mine on a piece of 1/2 inch thick plexiglass so I could see how full the bucket was getting. Have only used once so far but will need to open the gap a little as I achieved 95% efficiency!
