Because JP tends to get really good boilovers when he brews he usually makes high gravity beers whether he intends to or not. It may have something to do with consumption while brewing, not that any of us know anything about that. The result is always a starting gravity that is higher than anticipated. We put the beer on tap in the shop and it got rave reviews. It was both outstanding and unique. Sometimes things do happen for a reason! The beer can easily be described as a Porter on steroids.

Great Brew
I love imperial porters and this one was great. The coffee notes were excellent and the chocolate and coffee aromas make the beer awesome.
Missed my target gravity but fermented lower than specified FG so I was not unhappy with the results.

May add some vanilla next time.

Response from MoreFlavor
We found a similar lower than expected OG but the result was superb! Actually, we true a 10 gallon brew which stretched our modest equipment's capacity. The smoothe, creamy result is a delight with dark, rich color, hints of coffee, mocha and toffee. At 7.25% we can't complain. Slainte!!
