Description

This Fermentap Sparge Assembly is an affordable, versatile sparging setup that will work with a wide range of different mash tuns, and is perfect for use with cooler systems.

The assembly comes with a Fermentap Spray Wort Aerator that gently disperses sparge water on top of the grain bed. And because the height of the aerator head is adjustable, it can accommodate a wide range of systems and batch sizes, up to 20 inches in diameter. The stainless steel tubing measures 3/8 inch OD.

So I don't have to hold the sparge tube the whole time during the sparging process.

Works well, plastic head falls off on occasion
I used this for several years and it worked well. I upgraded to the ultimate sparge arm and won't look back. This one sits too low in a 15 gallon kettle for an IPA or other bigger beers. It occasionally reverse siphons wort back into the hot liquor tank.

The plastic head loosens and may fall in your mash. But it's a great starter.

Not the best design
Although this is a popular design, connecting hoses are difficult due to the odd size. Diffuser keeps falling off and so do the arms. Takes plenty of clamps to keep this puppy working. I simply don't have the patience for it.

Ok
If you are just getting into the hobbie this would make the job... it's easy to use and cheap

Works well
Works well plastic diffuser seemed a bit flimsy, difficult to get on the metal tubing.

Good product
I've been using this for a couple of years. Works as intended.

nice product, works as advertised
I used this for my last brew and the setup was easy. i only used it for the sparge but it could theoretically be used for the mash-in, although the diffusion may incur significant heat loss. This would require testing it out before you end up with a low temp mash.

The weakest link in this product is the plastic diffuser that is on the end. If you aren't careful while you are handling the assembled piece you can easily break it. The heat cycling after a few uses may cause it to become brittle and eventually fail. I'll update if this actually happens.

I also had to finish drilling out the center hole on the T-connector where the stainless rod goes through. It looks as if the hole was not completely drilled through. It's easy enough to fix if you have the right equipment, but if you don't have a drill then you may be out of luck. It's also quite dangerous drilling this hole if you don't have a proper vise or something to hold this piece while drilling.

All in all this is a low priced solution to a common problem when mashing. There are lots of DIY projects out there and other products that may be better quality, but none this competitively priced.

does the job!
I just used this for the first time and it did a great job. It works well with my Rubbermaid 10 gallon cooler setup. It is a bit difficult to get the sparge head into the clear tubing unless you heat up the clear tube in some hot water but once in it is a very tight and solid fit. Highly recommended.

Simple but plastic diffuser is weak
The simplest concepts are the best. Unfortunately the plastic diffuser broke before I could even use it for a sparge arm. If that piece was stainless it would be ideal. I repurposed it by inverting it and using it as a riser for my keg/carboy cleaner. Works great although not its' original intent.

Response from MoreFlavor
This also happened to me. The thing broke as soon as I moved it across my floor where it was sitting. Entire device rendered useless.

works fine
I have used this for the last couple of years of brewing. does what it is supposed to do. have had to change the plastic tubing connector between the metal pipe and plastic a couple of times as it weakens due to the heat and have had the diffuser fall off on occasion.
