Cascade Hop Rhizome

Description

4.5-7% AA - Grows well in all climates. Aroma and bittering for pale ales.

Pleasant, floral and quite citrusy. Very distinctive and the most popular microbrew and homebrew hop for American ales.  Cascade is the great aroma hop for all American-style ales, known for its grapefruit, citrusy flavors and aromas.

Rhizomes should be planted immediately for best results. If your area is still experiencing frost then you can plant them in a planter indoors until it is safe to transplant outside. The first years crop will generally be smaller than subsequent years. Since these are live plants, we cannot guarantee they will grow, so we recommend buying two of each type to help ensure their success.

Shipping Restrictions:

Due to agricultural restrictions, we can only ship rhizomes to addresses that are in the United States, excepting Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, and the counties of Bonner and Kootenai in Idaho. Unfortunately, we cannot ship these to international locations including APO/FPO addresses.

The other hops I planted are growing very well. My cascade rhizome hasn’t even broken ground. Should I be concerned?
Mark Horsley on Apr 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I planted 8 rhizomes (2 sets of 4 varieties) including Cascade on 04/18/2018. I used "rot prevention" planters containing store bought soil, Miracle-Gro All Purpose Plant Food, and Down To Earth Fish Bone Meal. 5 of the other 6 are growing vines, but Cascade is showing no signs of growth. I can't help you with why, but I can agree that my Cascade are not growing as the others are...if at all.

The Centennial rhizome is growing but is very small an flimsy at this point after three months. This and my other hop rhizomes (Centennial, Willamette, and Cascade), grew great in Sammamish, WA, but are really struggling in San Diego (Escondido). I think the climate is too hot for hops, even though they do great in the Yakima/Moxie, WA area, which has volcanic soil and cold winters. In San Diego it is dry and their isn't much variation year-round. I'm sure it isn't the rhizome at issue.

Cascade hop rhizome
My Cascade hop rhizome is doing well - three shoots have surfaced and the beautiful leaves are developing nicely. Let's see how tall this one gets in year 1.

All 5 have sprung to life!
after researching hop varieties that grow well in virginia, I settled on these cascade hops. All 5 arrived alive and well; all having officially put on 2-5 inches above the ground after about 2 weeks. I have them in a raised planter box climbing up cabling. Very excited to see the yields - but step 1 (keeping them alive) is complete.
