Whether system-integrated or freestanding, the BrewCommander™ offers automated step mashing, boil timers and amazing advanced settings. Whatever your heating source or brewing setup, the BrewCommander™ offers precision temperature control with increased accuracy and repeatability.
The BrewCommander™ Brewhouse Controller is a high precision, intuitive, complete brewhouse touchscreen controller for automatically ramping and maintaining the temperature of your boil kettle, mash tun, or hot liquor tank. With linear digital power control, automated mash profile ramping, boil addition timers, pump control, delayed starting, and easy to use advanced control settings, the BrewCommander™ is clearly in a league of its own. It’s a perfect plug-and-play match for controlling your HellFire™ burner, or other direct spark heaters, and can be powered from a standard 15 Amp 120V Outlet.  Be sure to download the manual and watch our videos for more detail!

BEST ANSWER: As other posters have said. If the voltage and plug are the same there will be no problem using any element you can find.

Good engineering but Blichmann service is full of drama
Quality and promise are met with this product but I’m giving it only 4 stars due the drama with dealing with Blichmann.

Issue #1: i ordered the lower cost unit in 5/2021 and 1 year later never received it. I’m not blaming them for the logistical challenges but the lack of communication were absent . The delivery was was always 2 months away.

Issues #2. From the time I ordered the unit till the time I received this the prices whet up $30 for the base unit. I emailed support and they told me due my order date they would give me a $30 credit. This was not the case when I ordered this unit. I ordered this more expensive unit as when I talked to support in April 2022 they still could not tell me when to expect delivery of my May 2021 order.

Issues #3: if you are mounting this on a wall or table with a din rail you need to take this unit apart and detach and move and reattach all the cables. If you are not familiar with electrical wiring there is a youtube video showing how ro do this but the issue with this video is the do not show a diagram of the wiring and the video glosses over some of the important connections. A bit hair raising when you’re dealing with 240V.

I bought this as I was going electric and wanted to keep my process the same and not have to adjust my recipes. I think I’ve succeeded with the 2 batches so far but the drama that came along with this from the company (not More beer) has soured my impressions of. Bichmann. Good engineering but customer service in my experience was discussing.

If you are in the market for an electric controller look around.

Engineered precision, we are very pleased with this controller for direct flame pilot system
This is an excellent device. Using this would be the only option that you cannot do without in my opinion if you are using the 55 gallon kettle. We do not have to worry about the burner losing flame, the ignition rod is constantly energizing to maintain the flame. The options to turn the burner on and off, as well as pump control is a game changer.
