Bourbon Oak Cubes - 2 oz.

Item currently out of stock

Authentic chunks of a bourbon barrel that will add flavor and depth to your favorite beer. Packaged in oxygen barrier bags to retain aroma. You will be amazed when you open the bag and take a huge whiff of goodness.

Sourced from distilleries and then cut up and packaged in a usable size for homebrewers. Bourbon barrels are originally made from Americian oak that feature a unique, heavy char for bourbon/whiskey aging. We suggest you start by adding 2 oz per five gallons.

Perfectly suited for Porters, Stouts, and anything else you can dream up.

How large are the wood chunks? Would they fit through a 2-inch port?
Justin Weems on Apr 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: They will easily fit into a carboy. They are all sizes, but nothing big.

Very good item at a great price.
Great item here. I am using the blocks in a completely different way than most probably. I drop a cube in a jar with tobacco and store it away to add a hint of whiskey to blend with different types of pipe tobacco.

Bourbon Oak Cubes - 2 oz. (OAK700)
Not Impressed, purchased 4ea, 2 of 4 bags leaked, chips dried out.. not a biggy really but was waiting to be Amazed.. wasn't, very faint bourbon aroma.. the char, described as 'Heavy' hmm, while no surprise, the images do depict the product, if this is heavy then i guess a #4 Char would be described as SuperDuper Epic Char.. <50% of the chips had any char.. the chip are cross sections that look to have be crushed to open the inner grains.. still testing, @1wk they have imparted a golden hue and what i hope dissipates a woody aroma..

Oaked IPA
Cubes did just what they were intended to do in a secondary fermentor with other dry hops.

Great quick flavor infusion
Used 2 bags in a 5 gal batch of English Brown Ale. Came out great. Will try again on my fall batch of stout.

Minimal Bourbon Flavor
I used the whole 2oz package in a Milk Stout Kit and soaked the chunks in Bourbon for a week before adding to the secondary fermenter . The Bourbon flavor was very subtle, nice but too light for my taste. I will try them again but maybe kick up the amount of chunks and increase the time in the fermenter.

Good bourbon aroma
Used these bourbon barrel chunks recently in a split batch of porter. Only two weeks on the chunks was enough for me to medal in wood aged beer at a local comp! The bourbon aroma was so strong I could smell it before even opening the plastic bag they are packaged in. Would definitely recommend!

Smell Great!
These things smell great!

They are a bit larger than wine oak cubes, but they should still fit through the neck of a carboy.

I use these for sour beer, so they are perfect for harboring brett and bacteria.

Best in Strong beers
Used these in a bourbon porter, and they gave a nice touch of vanilla to the finished beer.
