Please select from the following option(s) to see pricing and availability.

One of our favorite west coast porters is now available in "hombrew" form!  Our Black Butte Porter clone, commercially brewed by Deschutes Brewery in Oregon, is one of the most well rounded porters out there.  Being bittered with Bravo hops helps to initially balance the malty backbone, but that bitterness fades quickly, providing a smooth transition into the complex flavors of four different steeping grains.  This combination of Wheat, Carapils, Crystal 120L, and Chocolate malts create a rounded mouthfeel and chocolate flavor.

If you like dark beers, you're going to love our Dark Hill Porter.  If you don't like dark beers, this just might be the one to change your mind!

Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar. To find our yeast recommendations, choose your preferred kit option above and then select the drop-down menu under “Yeast Options”.  For more info, click on the recommended yeast(s) below in the “You Might Also Need” section below. All included steeping grains will come milled.

Please Note: In order to better serve our customers, we are now offering our extract recipe kits with either Liquid Malt Extract (LME) or Dried Malt Extract (DME). The majority of our DME kits were converted from the LME version, which is why you may notice slight variances in the extract names and quantities on your recipe sheet. You may also find that your Specific Gravity and ABV% are slightly higher if you choose DME. Whether LME or DME, add all extracts provided according to the recipe sheet. For further details, please reference the conversion chart below.

What yeast did you use for this Porter and how much?
Phillip Williams on Feb 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: US-05 is my go to yeast in most brews that do require a special strain. 05 always produces well and clean. I also always rehydrate and make a starter the day before with the stir plate

Incredible Espresso Carmel cherry tones
This kit makes for a large bold stout and by adding extra malt the alcohol by volume should be in the mid to upper teens. Aging 2-6 months in a bourbon barrel can only be a better :-)

Best Porter
This beer reminds me of Deschutes Black Butte Porter. At the last min of the boil add fresh ground Espresso beans in a grain bag.
