Simple, easy home brew grain crusher. Can be used as is or converted with an electric motor, though I would recomend slow and steady with the hand crank as the crush is better with manual power rather than a motor.

Is this mill a 2 or 3 roller?
Al on Jun 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 2 roller. One roller free spins, the other is driven by the supplied handle, or you can connect a drill. Been working very well for me for a few years.

Great mill
Easy to adjust the rollers to get the right amount of crush but didn’t come with instructions. Good thing for YouTube. I should have bought a mill a long time ago. Much better than the local brew shop

Works great!
I've only used it twice, but it works great! I have noticed some rusting on the rollers so I need to figure out what to do about that. I was storing this in my garage shop, but it is inside now. Totally my fault. I live in Louisiana so we have 90% humidity pretty much every day...

Nice piece of equipment
So far so good - just 1 brew day in. No instructions included - which would have been helpful to adjust roller gap - loosen screws, videos on YouTube. Hopper could be a little more generous, think the price to upgrade was a bit absurd when already spending $150 on a mill.

Great mill
Have been using this for 10 years. Still working well. Used a drill to run it for years. Put the handle back on for the exercise.

Solid mill after initial "break-in"
Started out a little rough on my first brew using this mill. Several stuck sparges and metal shavings mixed in with crushed grain. 2nd brew was better and I could not be happier with the third. There is a "break-in" period with this mill, but it is a solid addition to the brewhouse. I love being able to buy grain in bulk now.

Rough start, but solid finish
I got this mill for Brew-in-a-Bag (BIAB), to get a fine crush and better efficiency. I also like to buy 55-lb bags of grain, but don't want to run to the LHBS to crush it each batch.

First thing I did was figure out how to adjust the gap as fine as it goes. Easy enough. Then I hooked up to my drill and poured in about a pound of grain, and it RIPPED right through. Make sure you have a hand on the platform when you start so you don't spill from the torque. Success?

Then I pour in a few more pounds and very quickly it stopped working all together. The rubber ring between the rollers broke (and was in with the milled grain). The secondary roller was NOT free-spinning how I had adjusted it (very fine), so without the rubber ring the mill didn't work.

Brew day cancelled? After some internet sleuthing on forums, I determined that the rubber ring is actually NOT an essential component. Many brewers who leave it on the default gap seem to loose it after a few batches (and mash with it lost in the grain). Once I realized it's designed to work without the ring, I re-adjusted my roller to be free-spinning! The rest of the grain milled without a hitch. I got 90% mash efficiency with the fine crush, single infusion, and squeezing (not sparging) the bag. Obviously your mileage will vary, but I'm happy with the fine crush for BIAB. The beer tastes great.

The mill should really come with some instructions to cut the rubber ring before the first use (even though it does seem to work REALLY well with the ring driving the second roller). Maybe even some gap adjustment tips about using a credit card for the default gap, and making sure the secondary roller spins freely.

seems well made
only used it once so far milled 31 lbs. w/hand crank. - was quite a workout!good exercise.took about 45 mins. w/short breaks.had to narrow the gap,as some uncracked grain made it thru the setting it came with.my only concern is ,i was expecting a square end on the crank shaft so a square drill bit would fit.instead the shaft ends in a d w/ a set screw to secure the handle. hoping the drill chuck doesn't chew up the shaft.on the whole it seems sturdy and well made.will try w/the drill next time

Great Mill
Bought some bulk grain so needed a mill. I go through about 200 lbs per year to give you an idea of volume though the mill. I've been using it for about a year now and no issues. The hopper seemed a little light weight but it has held up fine. I adjusted the mill once when I bought it and it hasn't changed a bit. Instead of the hand crank I use an adjustable speed drill...works great! The base fits very nicely on top of a 5 gal bucket and keeps any dust inside the bucket. I had to tighten the bolts that hold the mill to the base after several uses...seem a normal part of use. Highly recommended!

Great grinder!
My friend and I had previously purchased one and really liked it. He used it more often than I so he has it and I have my own.

I love it! It comes pre adjusted for a great Crush. That's easy to use right out of the box. Works better when mounted on something permanent.
