(Makes 5 gallons) A lite beer similiar to the major American brands. Very light in color. Not much flavor, not much bitterness, not much of anything to tell you the truth. However, sometimes that is exactly what we are looking for. A good beer for general mass consumption.

wanted a lighter beer for friends.

I've moved back to lite beers. I enjoy the heavy IPA's and complex beers, but these are a staple during the spring and summer.

What stage do you put the dried rice extract?
Austin K Walker on Jan 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Preboil gravity about 1027. Start the boil, wort hot enough to dissolve extract. I add at the beginning. Produces nice light colored flavorful beer. I mostly use WL 80 cream ale but have used WY 2007 Pilsen.
Id like to bump this up to a 4.2 ABV --- add some dextrose or DME?
scott hoppel on Apr 20, 2020
BEST ANSWER: All of the above suggestions are great. DME will add a touch of body along with the gravity boost. Corn sugar will not add sweetness which may make any alcohol or hops more apparent. Honey will also ferment out completely and add a very rich sweet aroma and fairly heavy lingering flavor on the pallet. Rice extract is another one that I like to use in lite beers as it adds a pretty good balance of body to offset the alcohol increase. We do always recommend trying all the options for yourself to see which you like best. Cheers!

Will brew again.
This could be a "go to" in hot weather. Cleared nicely when crash chilled.

Good all around summer beer
Very mild and light. Tastes about the same as most of the store bought light beers. Not very malty or hoppy. Everyone that has tried it has wanted more. I already have a second kit to brew for this summer.
