Description

This awesome little fermenter is ideal for any fermentation, up to 3 gallons.  The unit is designed to be an all in one fermenter and bottling bucket.  The bowl shape at the base of the fermentor allows sediment to settle prior to bottling.  The wide opening on top allows for easy cleaning, large direct additions of fruit, hops or other products and overall easier access. Cool beer stein styling makes this the freshest fermentor on the market!

Great for splitting 5 gallon batches into two separate fermentation to test yeast, different dry hops, add oak to one, etc.

Use this fermenter for your next batch of fruit wine, half batch of beer or any other fermentation!  Holds roughly 4 gallons total; recommended for 3 gallon fermentations.

Seems like a great deal on a smaller fermenter. I am brewing 1-2 gallon batches and didn't want to spend an arm and a leg.

I'm looking to brew smaller batches and reviews were good. There are better and more expensive options but I do not need them at this time.

Perfect size for me. All other sizes were a little too big for me only wanting to do 2-3 gallon sized batches. Will be making mead with this!

I like the size and the reviews sold it.

What kind of plastic material is this made of? HDPE, PET, polypropylene, etc.?
Rich Z on Apr 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I bought a few of these and they work great. They are stamped on the bottom as #5 PP (Polypropylene) with an edible fork & knife food grade stamp as well, they are also stamped made in Italy, not China so hopefully some slightly better quality in plastic and construction there. I use these for 2.5-3 gallon batches of IPA/other assorted ales, not Hefes or lagers and never had any issues with blow off as long as I add some Ferm-Cap for 3 gal. batches. The spigots don’t leak at all as long as you tighten them correctly, I fill part way with water and then adjust tightness. Like all plastic they do hold a little odor from the previous brew but they are quick and easy to clean. Another good thing is the lid seals well and the plastic bucket is very rigid, solid and sturdy with a good thickness, not flimsy at all so they are easy to move around full of liquid and no fear of breakage when cleaning or using. They come with a cheap plastic S airlock that I replaced with a sturdier 3 piece airlock for $2-3 and it feels bulletproof for a cheap setup.
How tall is this bucket with the lid attached?
Peter Vargas on Jan 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: With lid, it is right at 15", perhaps just under by an 1/8" or so. This does not include the airlock.
Just got this fermenter today, noticed there is no sealing o-ring on the lid even though there is a groove cut in the lid for one, should one be in the lid?
Robert Hicks on Mar 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No o-ring needed. It is a little awkward at first but when you get the lid and bucket aligned and then tighten it, it seals air tight just through the snug fit of the plastic. It IS a little difficult at first but by gracing your hands on the upper and lower protrusions along the lid and bucket to brace yourself you can generate enough torque to close it snugly and reopen it. Hard to describe in words but basically fiddle with closing and opening it without using the dimples on the top and you'll eventually figure it out. I have
2 of these and have had no problems getting a seal after approximately 10 brews each.

The dimples at the top are a red-herring and don't work well for opening and closing.
How to get the lid to seal tight? I'm not able to get it airtight. Special tool?
Richard Miller on Nov 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It does not seal. I wouldn't have purchased it if I had known that. Some folks are OK with a primary fermenter that doesn't seal, though.
When will this item be available again?
Jan Rickenbach on Jul 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hello Jan - As of 8/2 FE355 should be back in stock within the next few weeks. Though we ask you check our website for a more realtime availability.
What is it made out of?
William Lewis on Mar 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The fermenter is made out of polypropylene.
Is this pba free?
Charles D. Coskery on Mar 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The fermenter is BPA free.

Great Fermenter!
I love this thing. It's a great size for smaller batches, cleans easily, and is much higher quality than I expected. I have no issues getting a good seal but it does twist a little more than you think it might. It's not hard to twist on tight, just stops a little as if it were sealed but a little more and it seals tight.

The rounded bottom works nicely to keep some trub away from the spigot. The spigot also has a nut that is more like a cap with a semi circular opening to further assist in keeping unwanteds from flowing out of the spigot. I had no issues whatsoever with the spigot leaking.

I've been searching and searching the internet for a larger version but have been unsuccessful. If they made this in a bigger size I'd absolutely but it for 5 gal batches.

I will likely go with one of these again to have a second fermenter. I've never used a Speidel but at half the price I'm not sure what could make it worth the extra cost.

Perfect for smaller batches
I purchased this at the Riverside MoreBeer store upon the recommendation of Rob the store manager. (Kudos to Rob)
It is the perfect size for small and experimental batches. It comes with an airlock, grommet, spigot and stick on thermometer.
I am brewing a kveik experimental batch right now. The hole at the top fits the smaller silicone tube perfectly (I used it during initial fermentation) and then switched to the airlock. Thus far I am very happy and have not had any issue with it not sealing up completely. (Which really is unnecessary)
I highly recommend this item!

Works Great for Me
I was a bit hesitant to order due to the reviews on the bucket not getting a good seal on the lid. I have not had any of those issues. I have consistent airlock activity on every batch I have run through it.

Perfect size for my 2.5 to 3 gallon brews.

Good small batch fermenter, especially for 1-2 gallon meads
I'd rate it 5 stars but the lid is awkward to screw on and off and doesn't seal. Not a big deal though.

Like the design but can't get the lid to seal tight
This is a great little fermenter but I can't get the lid to seal tight. On my second use and still having the sealing issue. I think I'm going to have to make some type of tool to really crank down on the lid. Easy to clean and of solid construction.

Good bucket
It’s perfect for 3 gallon batches. Lid can be a little hard to get on and tight but once it’s on it’s airtight.

This is a nice, inexpensive fermenter. I poured individual gallons in and marked the outside with permanent marker so I know how much beer I made. With the large opening, it should be easy to harvest yeast too.
