Hop Hash is a very pungent hop powder that is collected after the pelletization process. During processing lupulin glands build up on the hammer mills which are then scraped to collect this potent product.
Hop hash is a concentration of lupulin glands; meaning it contains a lot more of the good stuff, without all the vegetal mass. Very high in both acids and oils (16-32% AA / 2.8-4.5 ml/100g), this product packs a punch with a huge hop presence and a reduced green/grassy character.
Available in a wide range of varietals with differing statistics; usage ranges wildly depending upon beers style, character desired and hop being used. Swap as a bittering hop with equal amounts of calculated IBUs. Recommended as a late/whirlpool addition (0.5 oz-2 oz for hoppy beers). Also great as a dry hop (1 oz - 4 oz for hoppy to incredibly hoppy beers).
